To ensure proper healing and prevent complications after your tooth extraction, please follow these instructions carefully:
Control Bleeding
Bite firmly on the gauze pad placed over the extraction site for at least one hour.
If bleeding continues, replace with fresh gauze and apply pressure for another 45 minutes.
Use Cold Compress
Apply a cold compress on the outside of your face near the extraction area for 20 minutes, then remove for 10 minutes. Repeat as needed during the first few hours to reduce swelling.
Avoid Hot Foods & Drinks
Do not consume hot foods or beverages for the first 24 hours.
Do Not Rinse Your Mouth
Avoid rinsing for the first 24 hours, as it may disturb the blood clot.
Do Not Use a Straw
Suction can dislodge the clot and cause a painful condition called dry socket.
Do Not Spit
Spitting may also disturb the healing clot.
Avoid Carbonated Beverages
Fizzy drinks can irritate the extraction site.
Avoid Brushing on Day One
Do not brush your teeth on the day of surgery. Resume gentle brushing and flossing the next day, avoiding the extraction area.
Expect Mild Swelling & Discomfort
Some swelling, bruising, and pain are normal—especially after wisdom tooth removal.
Take prescribed medications as directed and continue cold compress application.
Eat Soft Foods
Stick to soft foods such as soups, yogurt, milkshakes, and fruit juices for 2–3 days.
Protect Soft Tissues
Avoid biting your lips, cheeks, or gums while numb. Parents should monitor children carefully to prevent accidental injury.
