Pediatric dentistry provides primary and comprehensive care to babies, young children and adolescents. Infant oral health exams are carried out, Special counseling on nutrition is given and any emergency dental care is provided.

                   This field of dentistry is extensively concerned with prevention, which includes instruction in proper diet, use of fluoride, and practice of oral hygiene. Most common complaints in children deal basically with caries (tooth decay) and teeth alignment.

                   For treating caries, procedures like application of pit and fissure sealants or conventional restorative (filling) materials are used. In cases which are highly susceptible to caries, fluoride application is done at regular intervals so that the incidence of caries in the individual may become low.

                   In cases with malpositioned teeth, lengthy treatment may be required to correct incipient abnormalities in tooth position. Braces or other correctional devices may be used. Procedures like space management is done after the premature loss of a primary tooth (milk tooth) to avoid disharmony in the teeth positions during eruption of the permanent teeth.

                   For patients who find it difficult to refrain themselves from thumb/ finger sucking habit, regular counseling is given and simultaneously treatment is provided by habit-breaking appliances and various other methods.

                   A significant percentage of children do not co-operate in the dental chair, hence causing an obstacle to liberation of quality dental care. There are many factors that are known to persuade dental anxiety in children. An affirmative relationship between the dentist and child is built during subsequent appointments and it is our primary goal to make the child comfortable in the dental environment and avail the required treatment in the most efficient way.
